Western Shoppe has been supplying and meeting the needs of the evolving Southern African horse lover since 1975. Stocking everything HORSE, Western Shoppe caters for multiple equestrian types, disciplines, needs and budgets.
The first Western Shoppe, opened in 1975 by Mannie and Darryl Gershow in rural Rivonia, had a distinct Western theme with wagon wheels at the front door and a comprehensive denim jean offering in-store. The business expanded over many years to cater for a broader and growing equestrian market, collecting a larger operating team and also welcomed a new partner in 2012. Deon Augustyn, also a passionate equestrian, brought years of corporate experience in operations, logistics and finance to lead and further fine tune Western Shoppe’s operations.
Western Shoppe today is a multi-layered business with six retail stores, saddle fitting specialists, an online store, and a broad wholesale network in Southern Africa. Our broad market and niche market offerings include international (imported) brands and local products covering Rider Wear, Horse Wear and Horse Care categories. Brands and products are carefully selected and we aim to meet a variety of “needs, luxuries, must-haves, & more” with an offering available for every budget.
The six Western Shoppe retail stores are located in the equestrian hubs of main South African cities, each having a product offering best suited to the region and a Saddle Fitting Specialist servicing their immediate and surrounding districts with new saddle fits and saddle maintenance (fitting changes and repair work).
Western Shoppe Online not only serves as a ‘catalogue’ to our in-store shoppers, but is growing in use by our working clientele, out-of-town clientele, or those who simply don’t get the time to visit a Western Shoppe store. The online store is merchandised with the full Western Shoppe offering, delivering anywhere in Southern Africa and now offers a Branch Collection option too.
