Description
The Portuguese Dr. Bristol gag features two extra rings on the bit rings.
The cheekpiece of the bridle is attached to the top ring and the rein to the bottom ring of the bit
This setting allows the bit to have an action midway between a snaffle and a regular gag.
The bit also has a central flat link which creates tongue pressure. It is quite severe and should be used with gentle hands.
The sweet iron covering on the bit encourages the horse to salivate and helps to soften the mouth.
