Description
The Novocontact bit range is Sprenger’s latest invention and features a unique oval shape design which widens the contact area of the mouthpiece on the horse’s tongue, without putting pressure on the palate. When the rider keeps a steady contact, the flat part of the mouthpiece lies sensitively on the horse’s tongue. As the rider gives a rein aid the mouthpiece turns forward meaning the contact surface gets narrower, ensuring a more precise and effective communication. When giving the reins, the mouthpiece turns back to its soft and smooth position with the flat part lying delicately on the tongue. The double jointed Novocontact bits are ideal to use on horses that occasionally tend to pull against the hand, but are too sensitive to be ridden with stronger bits. Novocontact bits are based on the latest scientific research and are suitable for every type of horse. The bits have been successfully tested and approved by professional and leisure riders.
The bit features the popular double jointed KK Ultra mouthpiece which is shortened and angled forward by 45 degrees. The angle ensures that the central link lies gently on the horse’s tongue, resulting in an even and constant contact to allow for clear instructions through the reins. The innovative KK Ultra bits take advantage of the exceptional sensitivity of the horse’s tongue which multiplies the perceptions from signals given by the bit. When the reins are pulled back, the central part of the KK Ultra mouthpiece rests fully on the tongue without squeezing or pinching. The tongue’s sense of touch is utilised, and clear instructions can be given. The anatomically adapted mouthpiece is very comfortable for the horse as the rider can give softer instructions and the horse’s suppleness in the jaw is harmoniously supported.
The Sprenger Novocontact KK pelham is manufactured from the newly developed SENSOGAN® material exclusively available from Sprenger Germany. The new bit material developed by Sprenger is the result of additional development and consequent improvement of their original bit material – Aurigan. It is the distinctive composition of copper, manganese and zinc that makes SENSOGAN® so special. With a reduced copper content, the oxidation process is still maintained, however, the newly developed combination with manganese is what makes the difference. This combination results in a smoother and more regulated process of oxidation. Tests show a very positive influence on the horse’s satisfaction, motivation and willingness to perform. The copper discharge quantity into the horse’s saliva is reduced considerably, which helps to preserve the bit’s white gold colour for a longer period of time.
The bit features a 16mm mouthpiece with a short 10cm long shank. Ideally used with double reins – the curb rein, applies poll pressure to lower the horse’s head and curb groove pressure to tilt the angle of the nose in towards the chest. The snaffle rein has a more direct contact with the horse’s mouth. It can also be used with rein connectors and therefore a single rein. Curb chain is included. Sizes: 5.5′.
